Good choice of electrical and electronic items. Lots of friendly staff offering help. Nearly always find what I'm after. Just a bit more expensive than buying online however.

Maplin is a great place for the electronics hobbyist and professional alike. They also sell a good range of gadgets and "man toys" like quad copters etc. This is the place where you are going to find the things that normal High Street shops don't sell.

Very helpful and polite staff who are always chatty. Sadly Maplin's range of quality goods, or even stocked products, has diminished over the years (in favour of online only stock), and parts are generally cheaper elsewhere if ordering online.

All Maplin shops now closed due to going into administration. Prices were high and even their with offer prices items could be bought more cheaply using onine sites like Amazon and Ebay. That is the main reason for them having to close. I was stuck on a job recently and urgently needed a connector to complete the job. Online I could get one for about 1 but I had to buy one that day as the job was a long distance away and I did not want to return for just to plug a connector in. Maplin price 9.99 I live near where the first Maplin opened in 1972. I was often popping in to buy bits. Since the late 90s I have hardly bought anything due to the high prices until the closing sales this week and even with 90% or even a 60% off plus BOGOF, I could still buy a similar item that would do the job cheaper. They were good at being able to get things no one else had but now you can get anything at the click of a button. RIP Maplin.

Anything you need electrical in terms of wires - adapters for AV, TVs, PCs etc they have - often stuff you can't even find on sites like Amazon
