The Abbeyfield Society was established in 1956 by Richard Carr-Gomm, who recognised that many older people were living alone and feeling isolated in their own communities. Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham is one of several hundred member societies providing high quality housing for retired people, world-wide today. However unlike many member societies, Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham does not offer a 'care' service or care facilities. Residents tend to be fairly independent, are able to look after themselves, but benefit from additional reassurance, home-cooked meals, and an all-inclusive fee.
