Staff helpful when you don't have much experience with court. The security is a bit of bother. Staff search handbags etc before going through metal detector. Public transport to all areas within walking distance.

Can never get through on the fine telephone line and the automated service only works when it feels like it. I recently got picked up by the police for none payment of fine even though I had been paying my fine,as a result they arrested me on a means warrant and locked me up for a night before they took me to court the next day. When I finally got to court and they looked into it they said it was a clerical error. I would have thought that they would have cleared the remaining 60 on my fine due to there mistake and time served.

A dinosaur of an entity. Its depressing that a legal system depends on the personality of a Sheriff and it is disgraceful a legal system can be so inconsistent that outcomes depend on whether you get a \good\ Sheriff. Even the fact we have to address a Sheriff as My Lord when they aren't Lords shows just how out of touch the entire system is with the general public. I would rather have a system which represents the public that it is meant to serve rather than a system that's not changed in centuries. Its not the Sheriffs Court, its the public's Court! Aberdeen Sheriff Court seem to also forget that the Small Claims Court is meant to be fast and efficient and is not The Sheriff Court. It seems normal to see examples of what I can only describe as outright bullying which serves no body and cases which could easily be decided upon being postponed. Watching just one session you are left thinking they are just plain rude and feel only their time is important. I have had a case call now four times and I am left with the heartfelt impression that Sheriffs are arrogant and inept.

You go here if you've been in trouble with the police and if you have to go as a witness or for your children. You also go here to pay your fines.
