Beautiful area, limited parking in village with short walk to the ruins. Unlike some ruins these have enough intact to give a sense of scale, shape etc. Deep moat. Small but pleasant picnic area with beautiful views. The village itself has a shop, pub, and the lovely St Nicholas church. Well worth a visit and the windy lanes to get there!

A small but atmospheric and evocative castle. Accessible via a short walk from the village. The availability for parking is quite limited. Great for picnics. Public toilets available in village next to local pub. Part of the Three Castles Walk which includes Grosmont, Skenfrith and The White Castle.

One of the three castles. We drove from Hereford, it took us about 26 min. The roads are narrow and very sharp to the top, as it always goes uphill. The castle is located in the small village Grosmont, hence the name of the castle. Well maintained and neat. The ruins of the castle are in a beautiful location, around the mountains and fields. If you will be near, visit.

One of my favourite local castles along with White Castle. It's not as big or impressive (in my opinion) as other castles, but it really does make up for it with the beautiful area in which it is situated. There's no parking here, although we managed to park just fine on the main road through Grosmont. From there, it was just a 100 metre or so stroll up to the castle itself. There aren't any facilities here, but bring a picnic as there are plenty of picnic tables, situated beautifully looking towards some rolling green hills. There is an accessible viewing platform on the upper level of the castle (turn immediately left as you go through the entrance), but be aware the steps up to it are very deep and quite steep. My daughters loved exploring here, there are lots of hiding places and the upper level is a bonus, offering lovely views over Grosmont itself. We can't wait to come back in the summer for a picnic, and a more in depth exploration of the site.
