Had a fantastic 4 nights here. Beautiful and peaceful scenery overlooking the loch. Very relaxing sitting on the deck. Staff very friendly and all organised as far as Covid measures concerned. Food delicious too. Would definitely recommend. Great location as a base for visiting nearby attractions.
Stunning location and a beautiful room which was ideal for us and our two dogs. The food was great, well made and wholesome and the whisky collection was well stocked and reasonably priced. The hosts were brilliant and chatty. Highly recommended.
The views over the loch are amazing and our bedroom had one of the best. Disappointed to only have a shower in the room however it was powerful and done the job. The hot tub outside had great views over the loch and the breakfast was lovely (full scottish for my partner on the 2 days we made it and i opted for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on one of them). A few things could have made this a 5* review though. The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are served on toast. This was just a normal slice of toasted bread and a nice ouch such as an artisan bread would have taken this up to a different level. We had pre paid for flowers and chocolates in the room on arrival however I had to remind Jean on the last day before my partner recieved them as it appears this was overlooked from our booking. There is also a golf course attached to the hotel and due to the time I had available I had asked if it was possible to use one of the holes to practice my pitching for half an hour. Unfortunately this wasn't allowed despite not noticing a single sole playing the course at any time during the 3 days which we were there. A lovely hotel, perhaps needing just a tiny bit of TLC in order to keep it as a 4* venue however all in all a enjoyable stay.
We stayed here for two nights in July and had a fantastic time. Room - very clean, modern bathroom, great views over the loch. Private sauna and steam room. Food - wholesome meals, perfectly cooked using local ingredients. Location - handy for the lovely towns of Aboyne and Ballater with great shops and restaurants. Staff - Derek and Jean are very welcoming and friendly. Overall - Highly recommended for quiet getaways and relaxation.
