We stayed in a pod - gorgeous location, and the pod was very warm and cosy (despite the relentless rain). Bedding is included, there’s a lamp and a heater. The pod was spotless. It’s also dog-friendly. The toilets were very clean but there was quite a walk to get to them. The nearby village is stunning and consequently very popular. If you want a meal in one of the pubs, I would advise booking. I would definitely go back again and have recommended this place to all my friends.

A very well managed hostel situated in a beautiful location in an amazing mansion house. Excellent restaurant and also separate and excellent self catering kitchen and facilities. Glancing pods, Tipis and camping available.

A magical setting for families and children to play. Friendly staff and a great kitchen for self catering purposes. Take it back to nature and a grwat village not far to stroll through or shop

Great camping pods, bell tents and more. Even in the days of coronavirus YHA delivers.

What a fantastic YHA in a beautiful location. The main rooms are set within a grand grade 2 listed building, with lush greenery all around and a babbling stream running around the edge, that is safe enough for even little ones to play in. My son enjoyed building a small dam. There are your usual rooms as expected at a YHA, with self catering facilities which are excellently equipped and sparkling clean. There are four kitchen areas within the one self catering block, meaning plenty of people can cook at the same time. There's a licensed bar, and restaurant within the main building. You can order a cooked breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal, all of which are reasonably priced and good quality. Members get 10% off meals when they book on line. In addition to the rooms there is a camping field, which is secluded and safe for little ones to run free and also a glamping area, which has tipis and camping pods, with outdoor seating in the middle. We stayed in a tipi, and they are absolutely fantastic. They are spacious, comfortable and quirky with a log burner inside to keep you cosy. They have one double bed and two singles. All bedding is provided and they have proper mattresses, which are really comfortable for a good night's sleep. You can even order takeaway to be brought to your tipi! The site is within 20 minutes walking distance of Hawkshead, which is a beautiful, traditional Lakeland village, with ample eateries, pubs and shops. The walk is along a country road, so may not be ideal for very young children, and advisable to take a torch if returning in the dark. Families with under 18s get a discount and there is 10% off accommodation for members. There's a communal room with wifi, a games room with table tennis, and lots of outdoor seating under lovely blossom trees. It's idyllic and great value for money. Will definitely be returning. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Cozy place, especially pods for two people. In a pod, there are two single beds, lamp, heater, two power sockets, two coat hooks inside, and two outside. Also provided a place for a bbq. Has a parking, sinks, toilets, and showers, which you need to book a time slot for. There is a self-catering kitchen, but it is closed at the moment. Takeaway breakfast (bars, fruits, tea, simple stuff) is available for additional money. The nearest village, Hawkshead, is 18 minutes away from there. It's very nice and there are several pubs, inns, and small shops, so you can buy some food and a disposable bbq with matches. Unfortunately, the nearest lake is private, which means that there is no free access to it. However, you can pay and do fishing there, if you go to a south village.
