Apethorpe was one of the most attractive village's. We couldn't visit neither of the parks but the church is nice and all the lakes around with peaceful atmosphere.

Disappointed as we arrived to then be sent away as it is closed also this location can only be visited by appointment only so we will re visit and then review accordingly low score at the moment however I am sure this will improve once the visit has been successfully carried out. EH need to inform you about this issue and make it very clear on there app.

Very limited opening hrs but an awesome even untouched look at history. Truly amazing rooms. Extensive grounds. You must take a guided tour this is privately owned. No photos except outside. Secret passages for the King's male paramour. This is where historical shows are filmed because it is so little changed. And still no indoor plumbing or electrical. Superb. Can't wait to go back this summer. Rare glimpse of the past even for England.

I lived here as a teenager when it was an approved school and scrubbed and mopped the stone floors and polished the wooden staircase among a thousand other chores lol. It was a wonderful place to live in in hindsight. I have been back on open days twice to re visit my past. And yes it does not get that much mentioning of being an approved school. It is so nice to think someone has purchased it and is going to keep it going for the future.
