We needed a refit of a small en-suite (shower, toilet, sink, made-to-fit unit, tiling) and chose Richard Day based on the excellent reviews of Atlantis Bathrooms on Checkatrade. The job was not complicated and we made every effort to make it as simple as possible. On the first day he arrived over 2 hours late. The initial work started ok with removal of old hardware and fitting of new plasterboard. 1) He attempted to fit the custom made unit in every location apart from the only place where it actually fitted, we even gave him a floorplan! On his second attempt he fitted it in completely the wrong place and cut an unnecessary hole in the top which meant we had to order a new one at 130. 2)The base unit was fitted 2cm lower at one end than the other. 3)The tiling in the shower was uneven 4)The grouting and sealant in the shower was the worst I have ever seen, it was uneven, dirty and crumbling. 5)The floor tiling was misaligned and uneven. 6)The tile edge trim was sharp and poorly finished, too short. 7)He did not take proper care of the 1100 units we bought in order to make the job easier for him. 8)Towards the end of the job he was arriving at 3pm and sitting around drinking tea for an hour before starting "work". 9)He had agreed to take all waste materials away at the end of every day but instead left them piled up in the car park. In summary, Richard Day's work was worse than amateur; everything was wrong and when I put these things to him, he agreed. Take a look at the photos below; it took him 3 weeks to create this abomination. In the end I told him to take his tools and leave before he could do any more damage. The en-suite is now in a worse state than before he started and needs completely refitting and re-tiling.

As the professional brought in to sort out this sorry mess I can confer that everything that Blocco stated is true and accurate. And in the process I discovered more hidden gems such as a vertical metal tile trim forming the edge of the tiles in the shower cubicle to be 15mm out-of-true from floor to ceiling. The shower cubicle was lined in standard plasterboard and not something water-resistant in case of any egress - which there was! as i had access to behind the area of the valve where I found evidence of substantial damp as the valve had been fitted in a way to suggest that he had never done any plumbing before. (since remedied) The expensive bespoke cabinets, supplied by the client, had been treated very roughly indeed and i spent some time rebuilding and repairing them. Generally speaking; despite the easy nature of the skills required to get this far, the workmanship was of such low quality that anyone would think that he was either completely out of his depth, in a mad rush or...drunk? I don't understand why the Checkatrade rating is so high, the reviews often mention a 'Michael' as an accomplice. I guessing that Michael was the skilled one and Richard as his labourer? perhaps they have gone their separate ways? What is also staggering, is that it took Richard 3 weeks just to install a small shower cubicle.

Did not bother to turn up for appointment. Just goes to show that companies registered under Chackatrade can be as useless and unreliable as others. Waste of time.
