Not recommendable. I got a bike with worn out rear tyre which lost the air on the tour. At the service number they saied that they are going to close for today and that there is nothing which they could do. So I had to walk 3 hours home

Dangerous death-trap bikes in extremely poor condition which have no maintenance schedule or checking procedures. Tyres are ridiculously worn to the point of being completely smooth (I can’t imagine how many thousands of miles that would take!). The slightest bit of rain or slippy terrain would render these bikes completely grip-less and impossible to control. It doesn’t matter whether that is in the Lairig Ghru (as one of your previous excuses states) or on the road through the hotel - and the potential consequences are the same. After my 65-year old mother was duped into hiring one of these bikes, I was provided with a full refund without any question on returning it. I was told by the worker that the tyres were “the least of your worries on these bikes”, confirming further that she had a lucky escape. I’m just glad I saw it before she went for a ride. Getting untrained, unqualified customers to “check” the bikes before taking them is not a defensible practice. As the hiring company, YOU are responsible for maintaining YOUR equipment and keeping YOUR customers safe, regardless of the sector or industry. IT’S THE LAW. For any potential customers reading this, don’t let it put you off mountain biking around the Cairngorms and Rothiemurchus. There are plenty of reputable hire companies in and around Aviemore that will provide you with decent, maintained, safe bikes, and there are some beautiful trails around - some of the best in the UK. Just don’t hire your bikes from here.
