This is a fun day trip and bird watchers will love it. Plenty of activities for kids as well. Binoculars are on loan, no charge, and telescopes are positioned so you can see puffin nests wayyyy down the cliffs. Admission via the visitors center up top is 5 pounds, and you will be doing a lot of stair climbing so be prepared. Be sure to book your tour bus or bike rental ahead of time, otherwise it's a 4.5 mile walk from the harbor, mostly uphill.

A place of rare beauty. The wildlife is spectacular, dolphins followed our ferry to the Island and we could watch them from the cliff tops. Bird life was a joy to behold. Our mistake was we did not stay long enough

Absolutely brilliant place. Finally got over to Rathlin last month (July) with our 2 and 5 year old kids and they had a great time. Wonderfully low tech (if you want coffee ask for a mug from behind the till), knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a stunning setting. Worth the price of our RSPB membership alone. Go to see puffins and about 100,00 (probably more) guillemots!! Couldn't recommend highly enough. Our kids had a ball and we're not even huge bird watchers. (If you're used to be entertained by performing seals and slot machines though, this isn't the place for you.)

Excellent. They provide binoculars. Staff on hand to give information. Shelter to have a seat. Educational room with video footage. Not sure about disabled access as very steep. Very interesting lighthouse, must be seen, not going to spoil the adventure. Ticket cost 5. Toilet & tea making facilities available whilst waiting for Berts puffin bus!!

Great place!! You can really see a big birds colony (including puffins). Workers and volunteers very, very friendly, helpful, happy to say many interesting things. Wonderful visit!:) And no rip-off - 5 for visiting both the birds centre and lighthouse (which is maybe not so interesting

Even the journey here is a great experience. The ferry from the mainland is about twenty five minutes and there are small private buses that are timed to take visitors up to the lighthouse from the pier on the island. The bus travels along a windy road and it’s 5 return. If you have time it would be a beautiful but hilly walk. The lighthouse is 5 entry and definitely worth it. The views of the birds and coast are spectacular and you can see over to Islay on a fine day. The lighthouse itself has a little museum bit and learning centre with lots of info and books.
