Mediocre and pricey. The potato skins were not very nice. They tasted bitter and the garlic mayo was not good. I had a spaghetti bolognese for my main and it was really bland and the pasta was absolutely rock hard. I know Italians can like their pasta Al dente.. but this was one step beyond and common to the other dishes we ordered. Daughters carbonara was nice however and place is reasonable inside.

This is the sister restaurant to Mario's in Newcastle. It's a bit out of the way if you don't live in South Gosforth. It's a much larger place so social distancing not a problem. Fabulous meal prepared by Joe washed down with two bottles of Sangavese. Unfortunately none of Mario's dad's own wine to taste. Thank you Mario. Asumpta. Chloe. Joe and the lovely Bill. It was great to catch up with you all. Edward and John x

Second meal here since lockdown restrictions eased. Excellent food and service, up to the usual high standards. Always enjoyable to visit.

Lovely, friendly staff. A little dated in atmosphere but cosy. I took my octogenarian parents there for their first post lockdown meal and I am sorry to say it was really poor. My father chose his favourite carbonara, and when it arrived, it was brown, greasy and unappetising. It was returned politely, the chef apparently agreed and the meal was refunded without issue. What we didn't complain about was the bland, loveless, tepid cannelloni, the basic and salty lasagne, the bruschetta made from scatterings of stuff on dry bread, the fried calamari with no dip. In a restaurant, where food is your livelihood, it should absolutely be your passion. This was functional and rushed. But the staff WERE lovely... I would give them 5 stars.
