Plenty of hand sanitizers as you enter arrivals corridor from your plane. Taxi rank offer card payment. Current surcharge for airport taxis is 2.70

I passed through in December during the strict lockdown in Northern Ireland. All the restaurants and shops were closed apart from WH Smith and Starbucks, which was offering takeaway only. I don't understand why this was the case, since it meant losing a significant number of seats and forcing passengers to sit in close proximity on the very few seats that are provided in the departure area. Not very well considered and there should definitely be an exception for establishments inside the airport - even if it only involves opening up seating areas to aid with social distancing.

September 2020, the only things open are WHSmith (airside only) and Starbucks (airside again). However there was sufficient seating given that only one flight was leaving. I fear this may however get worse as flight schedules recover - if another flight was also leaving there would NOT have been nearly enough space to sit or stand.

We used to fly in an out of Belfast City Airport on business in the 1990s from Birmingham Airport, but never gave much thought as to why we were always flying in Shorts Brothers twin-prop aircraft? With the benefit of hindsight, we now recognise that the actual airfield we were flying into in Belfast had originally been established by Shorts themselves in 1937, as Sydenham Airport, beside their Belfast factory. The airfield was later opened for commercial flights in 1983 as Belfast Harbour Airport (later Belfast City Airport) now renamed in 2006 as George Best Belfast City Airport.
