This is a great museum, Well worth a fiver to get in, remember it's run by volunteers, so every penny they raise goes to keeping the history of this Airfield alive !!! Great Aircraft to view, from the Iconic F4 phantom, to the only A10 "WartHog" on display at a private museum. The main museum is really interesting with plenty of artifacts to view , inc a "Real" Alien :-) The Staff ( Volunteers ) are very friendly, and don't bite, ( even if poked ) so ask plenty of questions, I did and learnt a lot. All in All a cracking place to visit !!! Keep up the good work all :-)

Stumbled upon this museum website when Googling Bentwaters Airbase. We were living in a village close to Woodbridge from about 79-81. I was 11-13 years old and impressed by the A10s doing their low altitude training and by the heavy Hercules C130 transporters. I remember our family got a free tour of the base by an acquaintance working at the base at the time. The base looked so tranquil and quiet but he pointed out where the nuclear missiles were buried which, when activated, would simply break through the tarmac and be ready to launch ! The Cold War was still very much on back then.

I stationed here in the early 80's. The museum have a lot of interesting stuff related to the base down to the small details. Very accurate of what happened back then. Great group of volunteers who gave us an 5 hours tour. Hale gave good briefing of his experience/account of Bentwaters. He even have on the uniform worn back then. I would come back, nice country drive.

Fascinating museum documenting USAF Bentwaters part in the cold war. Based in the Command building lots of exhibits relating to the Phantoms, A10's and F16's that were stationed here. Several static aircraft on show. Look out for the airfield walking tour which takes you out onto the airfield to visit many of theoriginal USAF buildings and the museums restoration hanger.
