Complete refit of downstairs of property “Superb! Charlie and the team had done smaller projects for us, we decided to do a complete gut out of our ground floor of our house. An expensive and long project., we felt BES were right for us, we weren't disappointed. From initial quote to completion (3 months) it was effortless. Fair, open, honest and most importantly skilled craftsman who take pride in their work. They are a "one stop shop" The house was taken back to bare brick, re-plumbed, re-wired, re-plastered, new floorboards. The end product speaks for itself, the finish is excellent and their attention to detail is impeccable.”

Not a trustworthy builder , I employed Dean and his company to carry out the installation of my new Kitchen and some building work I required. The work was supposed to take approx 4 weeks , it took Dean 12 weeks to almost finish the job , to be fair to Dean the delays were not all his fault but it was not helped by him and his team only putting in 4 hour days. Against my better judgement I paid Dean before the job was compete , he has now walked away from the job leaving me with works left to complete and a building rubbish in my garden that I need to get a skip to clear. Dean did promise to me he would return to finish the works off but he does not have the decency to return my calls. It’s speaks volumes that you will not find Dean’s company on Check a Trade , also the only review on the this site is from Dean himself. I would definitely not recommend Berkshire Environmental Services LTD

I had a similar experience to other reviewer Iain Ross about a year ago. Dean promised a (small) bathroom and kitchen fit would take 2 weeks. I doubted this and pressed him on a number of occasions. In the end it took well over a month, with several changes of personnel. I had to repeatedly object to unannounced changes to what had been agreed, and some things that were plain wrong. Most importantly, the bathroom fitter boxed in the pipes under the boiler, leaving no access to the filling loop etc as had been agreed. Dean assured me on several occasions that 'his plumber' had taken a look and said there was no problem. I queried this repeatedly but never actually said to his face, this is plainly a lie, do not insult my intelligence. Dean then presented a bill for 18K, 80% over the 10K quotation. Fair enough there had been a bit of unanticipated damp-proofing, but an 80% hike is incredible, and to bill it without any prior warning while the work was being done is completely unacceptable. I haggled and eventually paid 14K, with the assurance that he would sort the boiler issue, and remove the refuse that had accumulated in my front garden (the promised skip never materialised. Foolishly I paid before the work had been completed, leaving me with a dilemma over what to do about the boiler, and a fair amount of rubble to remove. I could go on. Avoid like the plague.
