This place is well worth a visit if you are visiting Northumbria. Fascinating place steeped in history. Castle is also within walking distance. Just be mindful of the tide times before crossing.

A stunning and magical place. Has a real depth of peace about it. The masonry is marvelous, both in its carved detail and in how it has been sculpted by erosion. Would revisit. Worth the views from up on the Heugh. Lots of wildlife to see. Never seen so many seals with their heads bobbing in the water like a rope of black footballs.

Situated on beautiful Holy Island just off the wild Northumberland coast, Lindisfarne Priory is reached via a tidal causeway. Follow in the footsteps of ancient monks who established their priory here nearly 1400 years ago. Learn more about the famous Lindisfarne Gospels, one of the nation's finest manuscripts, produced by an artist monk at the priory in the late 7th or early 8th century. Lindisfarne is remote and tranquil, a haven of early Christianity during England's most turbulent times and the site of dramatic Viking raids.

An atmospheric site with an informative museum nearby. Great walks around Holy Island with plenty to see (particularly liked the lime kilns). The castle was closed when we visited (Covid), been there previously an worth a visit.

A lovely place to visit, very historical. We visit Holy Island a lot and this time I wanted to get to see the Priory. I enjoyed looking around the surroundings and graveyard, but I thought it was a bit pricey (hence knocking a star off) for what you actually get to see (especially with 2 children who were too young to be left outside alone, but equally so also would not appreciate how much you have just paid to get them in! - they are 5 and 3, admission starts from age 5). To put it into perspective, we have just come from Orkney and paid a fraction of the price to see a chapel that's fully in tact...However we enjoyed what we saw from outside, as you can see by the photos :)

Historic place for one of the oldest monastery in UK. Lovely stop, nice view, perfect spot for a terrific pics. Easy to find good restaurants or foods trucks. Not expensive and good

Interesting place to visit. Make sure you arrive early morning and leave before the tide comes in! Check tide times, otherwise the causeway to drive into Lindisfarne will be under water! Good fun though
