March 2020 saw the Coronavirus shut down all restaurants in the UK and most of Europe, leaving our local fishermen with no trade and the population in lockdown. ​ BH Fish was founded as a way to support our fishermen and to encourage the local community to cook freshly caught Lobster, Crab, Sea Bass, Sole, Mullet and much more at home. ​ All our fish is wild caught in Poole Bay and Poole Harbour using sustainable, low impact fishing methods. ​ Our Lobster & Crab are caught in Poole Bay and our Oysters, Cockles & Clams from inside the harbour. ​ Each day our fishermen will return to Poole Quay with their daily catch, which will then be uploaded to our website, Facebook and Instagram pages. Our customers can order fresh fish and shellfish to be delivered straight to their door. ​ Deliveries are made on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 4pm & 8pm. ​ Under the current social distancing measures, our delivery drivers will telephone you on arrival and then simply leave your order on the door step. ​ To continue the theme of local businesses coming together in these times of uncertainty, we have also teamed up with The Crown Hotel in Poole, who as well as offering to fillet fish and pre-cook lobsters & crabs, have started to upload easy to follow recipes to our website, so that you can re-create restaurant quality dishes in your own kitchen. ​ A big part of our mission is to help the local community fall in love with cooking and preparing local produce at home. We have filleting knives and fishbone tweezers available to purchase from our website and will soon be adding ‘how to’ demonstration videos, teaching you how prepare freshly caught seafood straight from Poole Harbour. ​ "The UK will recover from this pandemic, if we all work together and try and make isolation that little bit more bearable".
