I was contacted about my vacuums being serviced and I told the girl on the phone that I wouldn't bother as they were now too heavy for me (I'm 72) and that I used a cordless. She kept ringing and said that they could make my vacuums lighter. So, eventually, after a umber of calls from Borderwise, I agreed. They said it would cost 100 to have 2 vacuums given a light service (as I hardly ever used them) and they would make them lighter. What they didn't say on the phone, even when I asked what they did to make them lighter, is that they basically take off the front brush mechanism, attach the hose and take off the handle, attaching it to the vacuum, as you would to use it on the stairs - making my vacuum into basically, a cylinder vacuum. It they had told me this on the phone I would not have bothered and would be 100 better off. I feel cheated as the only reason I had the engineer come was to see how he could make my vacs lighter, not for the service. He did nothing that I haven't already done myself over the years. I think the girl I spoke with should make it clear when people ask about this, instead of giving the impression that she didn't know. Not happy and won't be using them again - no reason to as I'm happy with my cordless vacs.
