I called today to get a quote for a tax return and for some reason the guy was incredibly angry and very unpleasant to me. I told him I live in the West Midlands and he said I was being really suspicious and started muttering something about money laundering. (I'm just a sole trader looking for help with my tax returns for my growing business, ideally on a long-term basis). I don't know if he was having a bad day or if he's constantly getting enquiries from money launderers or something?! In the end I told him not to worry because I'm looking for an accountant who is a little more polite to their customers. *I was not unwilling to let you know where I lived at all. You jumped straight to that conclusion before I even finished my sentence explaining my situation (which is that I've just moved back to the UK after living abroad). I would have been glad to meet and go through identification protocols but from the start you appeared ready to shoot down everything I had to say for some unknown reason. I called 5 accountants that day and each took the time to listen to my tax circumstances, ask questions and provide a quote. I very rarely leave bad reviews but it really took me off guard when making an innocent enquiry. I'm not saying you have to take my business but at least be polite and professional to enquiries (I was certainly polite to you!)
