Having stayed at the cottage at least once a year for the past fourteen years we are always keen to get back to this lovely spot and very comfortable accommodation. Susan and John have always been very welcoming both of the two of us and our family members. They are always interested in how our children and grandchildren are getting on and we now feel as if we are friends. We have greatly appreciated the effort Susan takes to make us feel that this is our 'holiday home' and particularly at this time the extra work this has entailed. We hope to be back again before the winter sets in just to rest and recharge our batteries as well as taking some favourite walks.

A lovely, restful place to stay. Makes a great base to tour from and a great place to test the bat detector. Susan was a lovely host and the cherry cake was delicious.
We have been staying at Mayland Farm Cottage for nearly 9 years at varying times of the year, both as a couple, as a family and also with parents. The cottage is always very clean, well equipped and it is extremely spacious with large rooms. There are stunning unspoilt views across the fields to the front of the cottage, and in Spring it is lovely to see the sheep and lambs from the back bedrooms. The hosts John and Susan are fantastic, with nothing too much trouble. There is always a welcoming greeting on arrival and a lovely homemade cake waiting. They have become very good friends and it is always a joy to stay and just relax, with plenty of walks on the doorstep, Hamsterley Forest to explore. as well as many places to visit all within a very short drive. John and Susan are always happy to explain the workings of the farm for those interested, and we have learnt a lot about sheep and cattle over the years. We cannot recommend the cottage highly enough and always look forward to returning. David & Audrey
My wife and I have been coming to mayland farm cottage for over 8 years and enjoyed it greatly. the cottage is spacey and clean with all the amenities. The owners John and Sue are very helpful and friendly Jim and Pat
We have been there several times and it has almost become a home away from home. The Owners have become good friends and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The building / roads are nice and quiet ( which is perfect for us) the cottage is always clean and tidy, with huge rooms. We find it a nice central location to visit other places. Although a working farm, we have never noticed any noise and have on several occasions when asked a question not only been told the answer but invited onto farm to see for ourselves. With us being city dwellers this was indeed a treat and also a learning experience. If you are looking for a quiet location with stunning views all around we could not recommend this place highly enough.
