I have had dealings with CMYK for many years, including a 12 year association in my capacity as Operations Director at Cricket Scotland during which time the company provided and maintained our computer and photo copying equipment. CMYK could not have been easier to deal with, while their staff were extremely efficient in quick response times coupled with detailed knowledge of the hardware and software they were dealing with. On a regular basis, in the interests of accountability, I would speak to other companies to obtain comparable quotes for the work CMYK were doing for us and not once, on receipt of the information, did I look to change suppliers, being satisfied we were getting good value with a company we could trust implicitly. QUALITY OF MACHINES Bought 5 Ricoh machines over a period of about 10 years (4 production and 1 office) machine 1 - died after 2 years, despite having a 5 year contract told that they could not fix and I would need to buy a new one. machine 2 - managed to get to end of 5 year contract - contract not extended. machine 3 - advised that developer no longer available - got about 4 years of usefulness out of machine. I advised that I had spare developer that I sourced from eBay, but they were unwilling to use this despite me saying that I would sign a disclaimer. machine 4 - got to end of 5 year contract, and despite machine having many millions left on the clock, they decided not to renew as not cost effective. machine 5 - office printer, click charge was shockingly high so was commercially unusable. ANNUAL INCREASES For non negotiated increases, my annual increases in click charges was between 8 and 10% PARTS PROCESS parts ordering process is terrible. if they need a part for a machine that they don't have in car, they will ship this to you within a couple of days and you need to log another call to get this replaced - so machine can be unusable for a number of days. Other suppliers will travel to their base to get the parts. A3 CLICK CHARGES They charge this as 2 clicks. For production machines other suppliers charge this as a single click. OVERALL I found CMYK to be very much in the contract for themselves and not customer focused. Happy to take the service charges during the good times, but as soon as things get more difficult for them then they have demonstrated that they are happy to terminate or not renew contracts. I have now moved to a different supplier and a different brand of printers and have found that copy costs are significantly lower and machine uptime significantly higher.
