A lovely chilly swim in clean, fresh water with some great people. Made some new friends

Beautiful place. Featured in numerous shows and some films. Recognised it from Skins, also been in Casualty, etc. Nice and natural, no chlorinated water. Clay gives it that nice turquoise/aquamarine colour.

Very clean, well looked after and so refreshing. Slightly expensive I'd say but I still keep going back.

Enthusiastic owner gives a warm reception, taking the time to explain the setup to newcomers. As a newbie to open water swim, I particularly liked that he came out from around the desk and walked me to the pool to point out the buoys and tell me the distance. Clean spacious changing rooms, and on the day of my visit, a friendly set of local visitors happy to chat and encourage. I went in early May and the water was a lot warmer than the other couple of places I had swam at, presumably because it’s not so deep. Indeed I would say this is the perfect place for anyone a bit nervous about open water, since you can stand up anywhere if you need to. Only withheld a star because of the absence of showers, but really, the water is very clean so it’s not much of a problem at all. In fact, I had a long drive home after my swim (I was working in the area that day) and had my wetsuit and whatnot in the car for two hours and there was no smell. Absolutely not something that will put me off returning. I’m working nearby again next week and will be back. Pretty great that it has a running route around the edge also, although I didn’t use it on my visit.

Great facilities with clean water managed by a friendly chap called Mike.
