Brixham harbour in February with winter sunshine is absolutely beautiful especially with the birdlife in the harbour and surrounding area. The reflections in the water when the sunshine’s is magical. I maybe biased as we have just moved here!

I love Brixham. I think the commercial fishing keeps the place a little more down to earth than resorts nearby, and there is a great deal to see and do. Brixham harbour itself covers a large area. Within it is a large leisure craft marina, a big commercial fishing port, a local ferry terminal (ferries to Dartmouth, Torquay and Paignton), and a traditional drying harbour complete with a replica of the Golden Hind. Around the harbour are tourist shops, ice cream parlours, fish & chip shops, restaurants and bars, with more shops and a museum behind. To the west, a short walk via the coastal path takes you to the pebbly Fishcombe and Churston coves, which form a sheltered inlet away from the wind. Fishcombe has a café and public toilets, and it's an easy swim between the two. To the east of the harbour there's the long harbour wall, and the lovely Breakwater Beach, made from perfect skimming stones. This has public toilets (30p a pee), and a café that serves great chips, and is licensed for drinks. There's a sailing club and a dive shack nearby, so you occasionally see a diver wander out of the sea. Further east along the coastal path is a volunteer run outdoor seawater swimming pool, again with a café. A bit further is the Berry Head Hotel, which has a bar with great views out over the harbour and Torbay. Up the hill is Berry Head itself, with the lighthouse, and an old fort with a café. The path then goes onto St. Mary's Bay, which is only accessible by foot, down a winding set of steps.
Lovely walk, all socially distanced, hardly anyone around, just a few dog walkers.
Great Little Place with So much History. Lots to see & do, A Pirate Ship me hearty's, crabing, shops to pop in to & lots of treats to find. Well worth a visit.
Approached from the sea the view of Brixham with its many colourful houses cascading down on either side of the harbour is one of the prettiest along the South Devon coast. Brixham personifies the classic English fishing port, mixing tradition with a modern vibrant industry. The harbour is also home to a fleet of heritage trawlers, all lovingly restored by passionate enthusiasts
