I've lived in Torquay for nearly 3 years and been over to Brixham a few times. And meh. A bit dull and touristy. However ... I've got a rather uncomfortable, sneaky, slightly desperate realisation that I might actually be the rather dull and meh one ... Walked past the town shops today, through the harbour, marina and up and down the breakwater, and in the January sunshine came to a startling conclusion. The coastline is dramatic and rugged. The bay is full of wildlife (saw a number of seals) and currently a number of cruise ships. The architecture is quaint and pleasing. Brixham has depth in both history and fishing culture. Is well maintained and there is a genuine sense of community. My jaunt to the smallish lighthouse at the end of the breakwater was both eye opening and mind cleansing. If you have the right outlook the world is still full of spectacle and undiscovered wonder. If you worry about your age, cholesterol and how comfy putting your feet up is then you'll never see anything past your own toes. Well, maybe the telly. And we all know there's nothing decent on.

Stunning setting. Amazing views of Torbay. Often seals in the water and on pontoons. Dolphins come too but less often.
A lovely walk to do in the early evening, although I caught a fabulous sunset across the marina last thing at dusk. A lot of time and money has been spent by the Brixham volunteers who have done a great job of lots of planting, who deserve a huge pat on the back. Plenty of seating for the weary, my only bugbear is the copious amount of dog poo, which is something that needs addressing.
Very pretty. Lovelly day spent there. Especially Blue Anchor, lovely crab sandwiches. Pleasant staff, obliging.
Working fishing town great day out
