After deciding to terminate our lease when our contract ended, the other tenant and I contacted their office several times to try and get our deposit back. Our lease terminated in early May so we gave them a couple months to reach out to us since there were lockdown procedures in place due to covid-19. Come July, they didn't reach out so we called asking when we might receive our deposit and they said they would pass on our message and get back to us. Two weeks later and no reply so we call back and they say the same thing. A few weeks later we finally are asked for our bank details and are told they need to see if anything had to be repaired at the property and if anything needed to come out of the deposit amount. Weeks later there was no update so we emailed again and were told to wait, and after 2 more weeks of no response we called and they said they'd send the deposit. Finally, over 5 months later, they returned our deposit to us. Had we not inquired several times during these 5 months I'm sure they would have taken even longer.
