Whenever you can't get hold of anything in B&Q or Home base then you try Mackays and talk to a chap that knows exactly what your talking about that gets the right thing for you. Amazing and in some ways am old fashioned shop in Cambridge but it is a real gem and had helped me many times, thanks.

Turned up at 4:59 to buy some fireworks for my daughter’s birthday, I opened the door to find a very stern looking man staring back who said “you won’t buy anything now we’re closed” he pointed to the clock which said 4.59. I said I though you closed at 5 he said “well it is 5”. I understand that he was keen to close after a long day but I knew what I wanted and would have meant staying open for 5 extra minutes, I didn’t get chance to make my case as the door was closed on me. I had a poor experience and they won’t be getting my custom again and clearly didn’t want it even during a lockdown. Disappointing.
