Potten End Hill
N/A
The little National Trust carpark as part of their Asheridge Estate. It can only accommodate about 3 cars max if parked as mine is I.e. nose in. Its located in Water End on Potten End Hill near the T-junction with the Leighton Buzzard Road B440 and the dirt track called Water End Moor. This location is not anywhere near the Asheridge forest area, so I guess its just for the the tiny Water End Moor by the River Gade. The NT signage gives no indication of why the carpark exists, it just says Asheridge. I can find no evidence of Asheridge in the NT 2019 Handbook, so a bit of a mystery. Anyway, it provides a safer place to pull over to make use of the nearby Royal Mail post box. Driving into the carpark nose in is easy enough, but reversing out is quite dangerous. Between the carpark and the T-junction with the LB Road are a few trees and bushes which obscure ones view, so reversing out onto Potten End Hill is done mostly blind.
