Bought spares for my fireline stove; glass, seals, bricks, rope and riddling grate. Service from the lovely lady in the spares department was excellent and with a couple of other items which they didn't supply ( paint and rope glue ) I now have virtually a new stove for less than 150.00 plus a couple of hours work. The whole exercise much better than my expectations.

I own a Paragon One gas fire and a Fireline FP8 and both have been amazing. There are several 1* reviews on Google and I cannot fathom why, a fire cutting out after 15 minutes is either spilling fumes or overheating both of which are installer faults. The rear ceramic brick of a stove cracking is normal and can happen anywhere from 2 hours to 2 years into use, if it has fallen apart it has been knocked with a log, overfired, or wet wood has been used as mine is now 5 years old and still working (yes it's cracked but fine). This should be explained by your RETAILER. Charlton & Jenrick are a manufacturer, if you have a problem with a car do you go back to the dealership or phone Ford/Vauxhall or whoever? Your contract is with the shop. These products and particularly the ones I own are high quality, hot, efficient and have lasted (my gas fire is 10 years old and looks brand new because it is serviced and maintained every year by a competent independent gas fire engineer (not a "boiler man") I would recommend C&J to anybody

For a very expensive fire it's very disappointing to have to replace the batteries in the fire quite regularly even after a long time since being used ie Summer. It also shuts down after around 15mins running, been let down by the Service Engineer(not employed by Charlton) who after explaining the fault to him and Charlton agreed to speak with him at our house while he looked into the fault. Needless to say, Engineer won't return my calls to book him in, so now i need to try and get someone else to service and look at the fault while conversing with Charlton.

Brought a multi burner, second burn back ceramic had a crack reported back to the company. No guarantee. Not after second burn. I have had multi burners for 40 years. Ask to send a picture they came back to say it’s only a surface crack and it would cost me over 50 to replace. Now after a few months it’s fallen apart which is what I thought. FIRE IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. Companies wonder why they go out of business, wise up do not buy from this company.

A very disappointing piece of equipment is their Braby Fire and surround. The ON timer is fixed to operate as morning and evenings, that in its self fails unless its plugged in permanently. The settings cant be changed on the remote as there is no response. Only the flame effect works on two settings. Over all, as a "fire" for the purposes of "heat" , it doesnt work.

I purchased a Paragon P9 BF gas fire from this company at a cost of 3000 and I might as well have bought a glass box with twigs inside it. The fire is less than 4 years old but has been broken more than working in that time. The faults started one month after purchase and it has been nothing but useless since, finding an engineer is a major problem as the fire is so different but dont expect the company to help you, they are rude and unhelpful, basically, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.
