Did you know Jessops is now inside the sainsbury's? Me either. There is not one single sign anywhere. Had to call and ask. I took a lens in for repair. A few years ago Jessops entered liquidation and they since made it painful for their customers. There new policy is to charge a 25 non-refundable deposit just to send any bit of equipment off for a repair estimate. While I was in, I told the employee who took the details and deposit, the lens didn't belong to me and I was passing on details of the repair process to the owner. While waiting for a reply I left the shop only to receive word not to go ahead with the send off. I returned to the store within 10 minutes to collect the lens and was told I would not get the deposit back. I asked what the deposit was for and the employee could not give an answer. It would be one thing if it covered the cost of shipping or if it was applied to your bill after getting the repair estimate and agreeing to go ahead with the work. No, no reason whatsoever. I literally just gave Jessops 25 because it's their store policy. I didn't buy anything, the item didn't even make it out the door, and it cost 25 for no reason. I tell who will NOT charge their customers 25 for no reason. Before going to Jessops I had also been to London Camera Exchange. LCE will send your kit off for an estimate free of charge and no deposit is required. Jessops customer policies are criminal and they deserve to fold as a business.
