I've used online access to the Cheshire Archives Tithe Maps details many times before. 1. Today I tried to access information again. It's rubbish now. 2. Why has it apparently been changed, to make it impossible to use? It's not possible to search for place names, plot details, etc. 3. The previous format was fine. Now you can't get Tithe Maps and the corresponding modern map on the Right screen which makes it more difficult to read. 4. What was once an excellent resource - is no more... 5. Hope this is just a temporary "glitch" but I get the feeling it's a "cut service". What a waste. Why break something that was working ok?

We had a long weekend in Chester and we were both pleased with our stay here. Our comfortable room overlooked the river. With easy access to the city's wall, we can thoroughly recommend this place.

Fascinating place. So much of the wider area's history tucked away in this old building. The people there are very helpful and they run a few things such as genealogy workshops and school trips, for example. There is free access to membership-only genealogy sites for those looking to research their family tree, as well as, of course, the original documents for half of things you'd be looking up. It's always worth an ask to see what you can find. Very interesting treasure trove of Cheshire's history.
