Really disappointed with Chigwell Marquee and how they have dealt with us, and our refund. Companies who take advantage of people during this pandemic will always be remembered for their attitude and approach. We had another 2 family weddings we wanted to host at Chigwell Marquee once this pandemic was over, but definitely not! We are still waiting for our refund, wedding was meant to be in June, 6 months on and no conclusion. We tried to contact them but they have been ignoring us.

Very disappointed with how Chigwell Marquee are withholding everyone's deposit. They were very quick to take our deposit but now they are giving us silly terms to refund us, this is on top of them keeping a significant amount of money for not providing anything to us whatsoever. I urge everyone to be cautious when dealing with Chigwell Marquee. Never ever do a bank transfer, always pay with a credit card, and if they refuse to accept a credit card then you know why. If they take your money via bank transfer then the bank can't help you if you want to get it back, and Chigwell Marquee know this and taking advantage of poor people who have saved all their lives to get married, and now they don't give their money back. They say they are complying with CMA guidelines, they actually are not. How can you people at Chigwell Marquee sleep at night after taking so much money from people and try to dictate terms when it's not yours to keep?
My fiancé is from an Indian background and insisted on a large wedding, so we decided to book their mega marquee for summer 2020. Since the covid situation, they told us they weren’t offering refunds but on the .gov website it clearly states venues that say they’re not offering refunds have to issue refunds. My wife has been trying to deal with them but has hit a brick wall and we’ve had enough, they’re simply trying to delay paying our refund for as long as possible. They have been so cruel to us, how can another human do this to another human, literally rob them over what’s meant to be a joyous occasion. If they have weddings daily from June to Oct, just think about all the money they’re holding on to and what they’re forcing people to go through. I urge everyone to begin a legal process through the courts, it’s very simple and straightforward, the best part is that the 185 you pay in court fees gets added to the total, when they lose they have to pay. I urge Chigwell Marquee to watch “can’t pay, we’ll take it away”, sooner or later high court bailiffs will be turning up to take those fancy range rovers you have parked on your driveways.
