Bought a watch from here about a year ago and was absolutely stunned by the quality of the thing. Photos don't do them justice as you can't really appreciate the beauty of them until you see one 'in the flesh' so to speak. Mine came with a quality Swiss movement (the same type used by many well known watch brands) and it's not missed a beat since I've had it, not had to adjust the time once. There's just something about a mechanical watch, especially one that is manually wound, that makes it feel a bit special. You feel like you're wearing a 'proper' watch (no offence to quartz time pieces). Of all the things I've bought over the years this watch has proven without doubt the best value for money. What you get for the price is incredible to be honest.

For my 21st birthday, my parents got me a watch. It has a spectacular custom design of the great wave of Kanagawa. It was beyond my wildest expectations, capturing the essence of the wave in three dimensions, I don't know how the watch maker did it. The dial has a real sense of motion. Now it's mine forever, I love it and could not have asked for more. The box is awesome too.

Earlier this year Wessex Watches designed & created for us this simply stunning hand made luxury timepiece as a way to memorialise our daughter, and to celebrate the work achieved by the charitable fund set up in her memory, as well as the hospital unit who lovingly cared for her. We were absolutely blown away by this completely unique creation, which was professionally & sensitively constructed to incredible detail by the brilliant Jamie Boyd. This phenomenal timepiece, with its 26 jewel Swiss Automatic movement, relief engraved dial in 925 sterling silver, German made stainless steel case with exhibition back, and Italian hand made buffalo leather straps, with deployment clasp is quite simply a piece of art. We could not have asked for a more perfect way to remember our beautiful girl, and through this watch, Wessex Watches have absolutely encompassed everything that was special and unique about our little girl, and the wonderful things that have been created in her memory. Jamie Boyd is the perfect combination of a tremendously nice guy with a genius craftsman's touch, and we cannot thank him, and Wessex Watches enough for their wonderfully attentive and amazingly priced service.....a must for anyone looking for that extra special watch! I came across Wessex earlier this year when they were being discussed on a watch forum I was browsing. Mostly out of incredulity at the prices (too good to be real) I contacted them by phone to check them out and ended up visiting the new showroom in Chippenham shortly thereafter, being only an hour or so drive from home. The upshot is that I bought (what is now) one of their older designs, The Anglo Saxon, a hand-wound model containing the Unitas 6497 movement. I was blown away by the incredible detail in the engraved silver dial, and I still cannot believe that a watch of this quality can be made for the price I paid! As someone else mentioned in an earlier review, you really have to see one of these watches in person to appreciate the dial fully; pictures, no matter how good, just don't do them justice! Jamie Boyd, the owner, really does go the extra mile in terms of customer service and he is a thoroughly genial and very knowledgeable chap as far as watches are concerned. Like others, I am paying the greatest compliment by ordering another Wessex watch, with a dial (mostly) designed by me! I will add that the prices have risen somewhat since I purchased my Saxon, but in comparison to other watchmakers offering a bespoke service there is no competition, Wessex wins hands down!
Top class personal service at a very affordable price. excellent quality with a swiss movement... the rest is pure British! I cannot thank Jamie enough for the timepiece he lovingly manufactured for me, his help and advice along the way was superb and the finished product is of legendary status! if you are thinking of discussing a bespoke watch with Wessex and are a little nervous... then may i convince you to just give him a call or send an e-mail.... the rest just then falls into place! I ordered the Aelfraed and cannot be more pleased. This watch is honestly the most beautiful watch I have ever seen in person. The photos do not do the artistry justice, it is simply stunning. I also want to comment Jamie for being so courteous and friendly in all correspondence.
I came across the Wessex Watch company site whilst I was looking for bespoke watches. I was blown away by the watches that I found on their site. So much so that I ordered one there and then and I went for the Spiral Guilloché 15 Automatic. From the moment the order went in, to the moment my watch was delivered, Jamie kept me personally informed and he also answered my questions about doing a personalised dial for me. The watch is totally different to any of my other watches and I own quite a few. As I told Jamie, I wanted something different from the watches I already have and wished I had come across his website sooner. I could have saved myself a lot of money looking for the perfect watch. The detail on the sterling silver dial is gorgeous and coupled with a top quality Swiss automatic movement, case and an exhibition back it is just a stunning piece of work. The hand-made leather watch strap finishes it off beautifully. Since receiving my watch, I have hardly taken it off and it has kept brilliant time; all my friends and family admire it. I would definitely recommend Wessex Watches and a big thank you goes to Jamie and his team.
