New owner - If we had the option to put 0 stars we would. As regulars, we would visit often, as a family, a couple and a group, we loved visiting for the all the right reasons, the friendly service, the lovely food and the fact that our dog was treated as if he was at home whenever we dined here. The new owner... Rude, obnoxious and I’m guessing she probably doesn’t have a dog. After managing to pull herself away from a table she had stood at for around 15 minutes which was quite clearly her friends, she approached us, we had been in the pub around 30 minutes already at this point, as she walked over without a smile on her face she bluntly said ‘can you put the dog on the floor.’ To which we was shocked at and replied ‘oh sorry he has always sat with us here, we will put our coat down for him to sit on’ to which she then replied ‘I don’t care put the dog on the floor customers have to sit on those chairs’ and walked off... Firstly, manners cost absolutely nothing. If she had have maybe used a please or approached us with a little more etiquette we would have been understanding and just put him on the floor. Secondly, to then reply with ‘I don’t care’ is despicable. Anyway, long story short the new rude owner ruined the whole of the main course, and as a result I didn’t even eat half of the meal and we will not be returning here again. As we was paying the bill we complained to the lovely waitress behind the bar who had worked here with the previous owners about the woman’s rude manners, all whilst the new owner was back stood at her ‘friends’ table. So... Dog friendly? Yes if your dog will sit on the floor and be quiet, Unfortunately our dog has never been like this, we always had our small well behaved family dog with us which is why we enjoyed eating here, he would always sit with us on the chair quietly and we would order him sausages, the staff would treat him as if he was their own which is why we visited all the time.

Fantastic little pub. Very atmospheric. Cheap lunch menu on a Sunday and reasonable main menu. Triple Club Sandwich was top notch as was the Lancashire cheese and chutney. Great way to start or end a walk

Enjoyed an exceptional 3 course meal this evening here. Garlic bread with cheese for starter, signature burger with chips, coleslaw and a side order of homemade onion rings. Followed by a delicious hot chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. Had 2 pints of beer too. Amazing value for money with the eat out to help out scheme. Would highly recommend!

Lunch menu in a really clean pub, fish goujons with real home cooked chips and fresh peas was lovely. With my wife's favourite slow cooked bbq ribs with pork falling off the bones. Full of flavor and a fresh salad. Pint of snake lifter all served up from polite and happy staff... On my walking route so i will attend again.
