We have used Thorogoods a lot due to great quality and well sourced wood, not to mention the great prices! Previously we have bought beautiful Maple slab, beams, and a beam off cut for the mantle piece. Yesterday after seeing new arrivals on Instagram, we made the decision to purchase a slab of English Elm. So excited to see how it all turns out once we have poured the resin!

Having had a pleasant phone call with a female member of staff who said \bring your drawing in and we'll show you some samples\, I jumped in the car and drove over. The young bearded man who, eventually, came to the window was dreadful! In his own words, \we don't have wood samples to show you\. At a timber specialist in the current state of the economy, brilliant! He really was worst than useless. All I needed was a bit of help choosing the correct wood, but he really did not want to help. As my mother said who was with me, \he couldn't be bothered\. I ended up at Daddyoaker in Colchester who were very helpful. I can't believe anyone who's employed at the moment could act in such a way.

told my order would be planed and sanded when ordered, plane marks suggested material put through planers to fast leaving ridges which were not sanded out as promised, disappointing workmanship

Fantastic Find! I have been looking for a place that sells unusual timber for the hobbyist woodworker, and I've found it. They sell Ash, Cherry, Lime, and Maple, among many other species. They could not have been more helpful. A special thanks to Peter for giving me a tour of the place. I would definitely recommend this place for all of your timber needs.
