Beautiful castle. Unfortunately, temporary closed to public. At the moment there are commercial film making, but you can still walk around.

Great few hours exploring here, some really nice features. Won't spoil it by telling you too much, it's well worth a visit! Enjoyed by all ages with friendly, helpful staff, nice gift shop and really lovely tea room.

Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms, nestles in peaceful South Shropshire countryside near the Welsh Border. It is one of more than a dozen English Heritage properties in the county. Stokesay Castle is the finest and best preserved 13th century fortified Manor house in England. It offers visitors a unique glimpse into a distant age, when strength and elegance were combined. Set amid peaceful countryside near the Welsh border, it forms an outstandingly picturesque group with its timber framed gatehouse and the parish church.

A hidden English heritage gem well worth visiting. Cross between a manor house and a castle. The first thing you see is the yellow entrance house which hides a courtyard garden as well the manor house and turret. Excellent audio guide which gave the history. Not an ideal place if you have mobility problem. Stairs to the upper floor in the manor house part have very narrow treads and the ones to upper floors of the turret are very narrow worn stone. Didn't attempt but told there was a rope hand rail to help you. Steward was only allowing one party up at a time. Well stocked shop, toilets and an excellent cafe at the end of car park which is free to members displaying EH sticker and currently 3 for non members. Church, not EH, was also worth visiting.

Loved it, even under the rain. Actually that's what made us go there and we didn't regret. Lovely staff, helpful and nice. They encouraged us to use the audio sets, free of charge. That made us discover this fabulous place and even our children loved it, 8 and 11 years old. Nice shop as well.

An amazing sight. We didn't go in but walked round the outside. You can walk round the moat Went in the church. Beautiful stained glass windows. Box pews. On site shop has quality gifts and plants.

House was not as large as I thought it would be, but the free audio guide was very informative and overall I had a very enjoyable 1 and half hours exploring the house and grounds. Pre booking online was quick and easy, and the house was not crowded and I felt safe during the visit. All in all well worth a visit
