I recently attended a private one day curry masterclass with the fabulous Habiba and absolutely loved it. Habiba is relaxed, happy to share family recipes, professional, calm and a font of all curry knowledge, when you book a session with Habiba it's not just her that you cook with , she brings along a lifetime of love of Bangladeshi food from her mum, sister, mother in law and grandmas. The class was made to fit my skill and knowledge level and I picked all the dishes we made on the day, all of which I will definitely make again. Habiba teaches you home cooking dishes that far outshine the choices that you get in Indian restaurants in this country, she shares home top tips, easy step by step recipes and in a warm at home cooking with a friend kind of way. I learnt that the way you chop your onions has an effect on your dish and depending on what you need the onions to do for the dish there's a way to bring out the required results, I learnt that you can freeze whole chilies, that you can still fry dishes by adding water and that you can't cook a curry in a hurry. Cooking a good curry uses techniques that are alien to how we are taught to cook British food at home, the changes in flame control and to listen out for the sizzle are a skill that no cookery book can teach you. Habiba teaches you not just the measurements and quantities but to cook using your sense of smell and your hearing as well as tasting the food every step of the way. Habiba you are a legend and I will definitely be back to learn how to byriani like a pro!

Thanks Habiba, our second experience of ‘ My curry club’ at your kitchen, was as good as my first at our kitchen. Entertaining and educational is a great mix. Made the butter chicken again last night (in about an hour) with the longer marinated chicken and it was fantastic. Blended it this time, the colour and taste just spot on, the kids loved it. Thanks for the Rogan Josh spices and for the confidence to keep trying new dishes. Take care, Mark.

I had waited 8 months (Xmas present) because of Covid and I wasn't disappointed. The instruction, explanation and information given at every little step throughout the cooking process were invaluable. The dishes cooked are amazing and I look forward to my next visit. I for one will never need to buy one of those awful shop naans again. Off to shop for a new pan and the utensil to cook the naan on.

As a complete novice , attended my lesson with Habiba and was relieved to find it was far less complex than I had imagined. Once the basics were explained and tried out , the easy steps to finally complete the dish are an experience that should be repeated. This first try at making a curry was a success and thoroughly enjoyed .

A delayed Birthday present (thank you Karen xx) due to Covid but Habiba’s kitchen is now up and running and Covid secure. We were cooking chicken bhuna and onion bhajis. Habiba explained the basics including how to cut onions so they cook down quickly to make a base. She then explained the aromatic spices to use then the ground spices and how to mix a garam masala. As someone who enjoyed cooking a curry from a jar, this was all a revelation! Habiba explained at each step what we were doing and why we were doing it, all in a relaxed and informative manner. Then onto the bhajis. Onions sliced differently this time and mixed with chickpea flour and more spices. We took our creations to friends nearby and supplemented our bhuna and bhajis with supermarket versions. The verdict was unanimous. Ours were far superior, super tasty and delicately spiced and easily got the vote. We’re looking forward to practicing our new skills and expanding our repertoire. Habiba’s kitchen is spacious and authentically kitted out. Overall a great cooking experience and highly recommended.
