Food is excellent, the staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are well presented and tidy and there is plenty of parking on site, ideal location for a walking holiday, not far from Lake Windermere and only 10 mins from Barrow town centre

This hotel looked outstanding online - with past features being shown in each room - so disappointed to be in the annex in a double room which is by it's best by a long shot. A foul smell lingers in the car park!! Council issues with refuse collection - so someone had a brilliant idea to place a big skip at the entrance to the car park and dump the waste in there!!! Stig of the dump probably had a better atmosphere for sleeping! Breakfast is what you make it - mediocre at best! This hotel is due to continue trading - my earlier report of being demolished have been incorrect and as such with the removal of the skip and some redecorating this would be a comfortable place to stay.
Great food, steaks to die for, service excellent and attentive, highly recommend!
For Business travellers: This is a lovely place which offers good value for money. The room I stayed in was a good size, very clean and had good facilities. It was nice to use a key rather than a magnetic key fob! However I recommend the hotel install a light outside the door so you can see the key hole when it's dark. The restaurant/bar is decent with nice decor and good facilities to watch sport. The menu is okay and the food comes in good sized portions. The bed was comfy but I was too easily able to hear the footsteps of the room above me which was probably the only drawback. Overall a solid 4/5.
I'm sure this place is lovely. First off we were told they couldn't find our booking, then they found it for the next night, however they did find us a room. The first room was nice, then we removed the bed runner, a few drops of BLOOD on the duvet cover, it didn't look like it had been washed! To be fair to the receptionist he looked horrified. He came and inspected and offered a choice of 5 rooms! No easy feet considering they were hosting a wedding party! The other rooms weren't as nice or as big as the first, but the room was still ok for the price. The receptionist offered a free bottle of Processo which we polity declined as we don't drink, he then offered to pay for the entry to the Zoo we were attending the next day, but they 10 mins later he came back apologised once again and then insisted that the room was free. So we were much happier with a free room and of course a free breakfast each. Even still we were shocked at how someone missed drops of blood on a bed and made even worse considering someone had gone to the effort to put a bed runner over the drop of blood, clearly they would of seem them! The food in the morning was nice, coffee fresh, bacon perfectly cooked, beans a bit dry but good, scrambled eggs were spot on! Overall a nice stay but very shocked at how the cleaning staff could miss blood!
Really nice food and very polite staff!
Great ambience and food...
Cannot fault the food or the service. Although it's a little more expensive than other restaurants in the area, it is absolutely worth it. We had the sharing platter with 2 extra sides between 3 of us, and we couldn't finish it! Really tasty. Staff were friendly and great with my little boy too. Atmosphere was welcoming and family friendly.
