Very good for magic, miniatures gaming. There's a reasonable selection of board games. I wouldn't go to purchase something on an event day unless participating as it's incredibly busy and there is little space to move and the staff are all very busy. It's not too far from Waterloo station though so its a good location.
I can't recommend Dark Sphere for online orders. My order took over a month to dispatch, which is fine under the current circumstances with stock levels etc. but then my order went missing in the postal system and they wouldn't accept responsibility. I did eventually get a refund but had to work real hard for it.
Friendly staff and good facilities. Has an extremely active Magic the Gathering scene, as well as a few regular D&D groups. War gaming is also present here, mostly Warhammer 40k, but there are tables to suit most popular games systems. Terrain is laid out for you, and staff do offer to add or remove some as the customer wishes. Good quality gaming mats are also provided for you. The shop has full shelves, and it’s possible to order in Games Workshop products with a generous discount. Other makers are available on site, but I’m not massively familiar with them. Loses some points, but it’s not doom and gloom. - Being in a train arch, the sound of passing carriages can make it hard to hear conversation sometimes, but if you’re a regular you may not even realise the sound anymore. - Wargaming tables don’t have much space around them. Chairs are provided to put bags and books but it’s far from ideal. You’ll be standing butt to butt with other gamers on some days. - Probably the worst point; the loo - it is kept clean so the toilet itself is not the issue. However, the door does not have any closing mechanism and the reek can then waft over the war gaming tables without mercy. Patrons sometimes forget to close the door after they are finished and so the misery is shared to all in attendance. Could be a nod to Nurgle by a fan... Overall, a nice play to play a few games with friends, and then pick up new pieces for the next time you wish to play.
My first Friday Night Magic was in Dark Sphere and it was real good! It's well organized despite the fact that the place is really packed on Friday nights. My friends who play Magic for a long time all recommend Dark Sphere as one of the best local game shops in London. Worst paying a visit!
