Dawson did a survey on a property we were going to buy. They estimated 15,000 of damp work. We then commissioned a report from a damp specialist who gave a detailed report and a quote for 1,500. Worse than this, they also did a survey on the flat we WERE selling. The lady who did the survey assured us that our flat passed 'with flying colours' and was in excellent condition. However, when she saw the survey, our buyer pulled out, saying that the survey was terrible and identified substantial damp problems. She said that the survey showed the cellar wasn't tanked (it is, we provided guarantees) or ventilated. It is, the fan was on when the survey took place. When we queried this with Dawsons they refused to comment on the survey and also denied ever saying 'with flying colours' even though I heard the surveyor say it to my partner at the time. So, two suspect surveys that have lost us both a sale and therefore the purchase of a flat. I would certainly not use this company.
