A very interesting and lovely walking near Calke Abbey in Ticknall. A little bit of local history in the South Derbyshire woodland. You can still follow the path of the former tramway, dismantled many years ago, used to carry the limestone from Ticknall to Ashby, walking through several little bridges and two tunnels.
The lime kilns are a lovely walk. You can access them from Calke Abbey grounds of from Stauntan Harold Reservoir. Little bit of history in the middle of the small woodland. It's an easy walk for any Rambler. Lovely little bridges neighbouring also.
