Tonight we went to see the Xmas lights over the marina. They were brilliant and brings a smile to your face, as this is an outdoor activity, which we can do while in a major lockdown. Try and visit this over Christmas, its so worth it.

gorgeous area. I'll develop this review with photos down the line. If you need a place to walk and shut off this area has much to offer

I visited this marina last week our group Lens visited a few years ago. Sadly they have had to lock the nature side of the Marina to make it secure. But still enjoyed my visit. Anyone who likes shops would like to look around.

We were disappointed. We'd hoped to walk from, around the marina having read about what bird life we may see there and that there were good paths with some measure of firm surfaces, as the weather had been pretty wet lately. We were pleased to see there were no parking charges, so we parked and proceeded to put on our walking shoes and waterproofs, then set off to find the start of our walk. We'd downloaded a set of walks from the M. Marina website with descriptions and maps. We like to be prepared! However, then we quickly found out that main paths had been closed from some time in October until Christmas eve. We set off instead to walk along the road to Findern, which was mildly interesting, then returned to the marina to eat our packed lunch. Why the path closures were not mentioned on the website remain a question. It really was a wasted journey. Sadly we were unable to recall how to find the wildlife trust site which we had visited about a year ago. Now we're home in Wirksworth. We're not sure if we would bother visiting again.

We went when it was closed, I must say just to walk around and see all the Christmas lights was amazing. This is worth a look even if just to stretch your legs. It's quite tranquil with most of the boats lit up too. There is plenty of parking and plenty of walks so get out and enjoy life a bit .... Merry Christmas
