This bridge dates back centuries and has protected status and was once crossed by Bonnie prince Charlie and his men on their way to take the crown of the king of England which was in fact rightfully his to take but gave up the journey after being tipped off about an ambush by the king of England's army which was far bigger than his own and so decided to retreat and spare the lives of his own soldiers. A statue stands proudly in full street Derby of Bonnie prince Charlie on his horse ... a truly fitting tribute to a brave man.

Beautiful scenery today on walking over with the dogs. Peaceful walk using the public footpaths. Shame the pub is closed.
Not much to it but a beautiful place to relax by the river! It's on a couple of really nice walking routes and it's a schedule 1 ancient monument originally constructed by the Romans but changed much since then! It's also the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie turned his forces around and headed back to Scotland!
Great historical place . And some nice walks nearby
Very nice good value for money friendly and great service definitely recommend
