I am not a whiskey drinker but still thoroughly enjoyed the whiskey event. Garry led us through Scottish history with colourful stories starting with whiskey's humble origins and ending with world-wide recognition and cult status - fun and informative. On top of that the food was really excellent. My favourite was the starter, a trio of carrot and orange soup with kedgeree bonbon and pickled beetroot on toast. I am not sure I would have chosen that from a menu but I would have missed a treat - both imaginative and truly delicious.

My husband and I enjoyed our visit for the dinner quite a lot. It is a new business but it is definitely a hidden jewel and we were very well pleased with everything. Following our welcoming drink we were guided through a history of whisky which was very interesting, entertaining and tasty. The food was exquisite and all the ingredients where locally produced and well prepared. Lovely decor and table settings and easy to make conversation with other diners. Well worth and highly recommended!!
Attended a Tipsy Afternoon tea it was excellent. Very interesting talk on the history of Gin, Tea and Coffee but the food was fantastic and very tasty. Plenty to eat and what I couldn't manage I took home. A lovely experience looking forward to doing it again
Thoroughly enjoyed our whisky tasting event with lovely food and nice range of whiskies. Great stories about whisky from host Garry. Very happy with COVID compliance. Being a newly refurbished building everything was spotless and tastefully decorated.
What a wonderful experience! We happened about Downright Gabbler completely by chance and we cannot believe our luck. The food, wonderful as it is, was just the excuse to have the most entertaining conversation; about whisky, about history, and the history of whisky. Downright Gabbler was like being invited to a dinner party with an amazing host (Garry) and an amazing cook (Kirsty). Priceless. By the way, be sure to ask where the name of the business came from.
Absolutely brilliant, the food was amazing. We attended the whisky event and it was fantastic. Gary is a first class host and really passionate. The service was first class. A great place for a base to explore the surrounding area, with plenty of things to do.
We had a lovely stay at the Downright Gabbler! Attended 'Life's a Dram', which was filled with educational stories, delicious food and friendly banter, before heading upstairs to our beautiful self-catering room which was equipped with everything you could possibly need for a night away! There were measures in place to keep everyone safe and distanced during these difficult times, so please get on and book a night or two (or three ) and support this delightful family run business!
Excellent evening - great food, entertaining and informative talk and lovely venue. Great place to take visitors to the Highlands for a night out.
