Small, but worthy of exploration. There's an interesting story, perhaps considered romantic, perhaps sad, about how the abbey got its name, and in fact why it was built, but instead of telling it here, I recommend asking a local when you get there. If you see an old man with a long beard who happens to be smoking a pipe, ask him, because he's the best story teller.

At the time I visited alot of scaffolding had been erected around the building (see photos) but not enough to spoil the view. Nice historic place that's pleasant to wonder around in peace and quite. Worth a visit.

Impressive ruin with free car park and toilets alongside. Scaffolding and fencing currently in place, so views are a little compromised.

Nice large car park, another well kept historic site. At present it is undergoing major restoration work. So access is limited but free. No staff were on site when we were there. Although there is the historic water mill at the other end of the village. Unfortunately for us it is not wheelchair accessible. Except for the shop where were able to get useful advice from the friendly and knowledgeable staff as to other sites that we would find it easier to get access to.

Beautiful old place. Lovely little village. The pub had good food and the little cafe opposite the Abbey did a lovely scrambled egg breakfast.

We spent a delightful day here on a lovely sunny day. The information boards all around the abbey were so helpful in learning about the history and take lots of photos. The little cafe was excellent with some delicious home made food and cakes were yummy. Definitely worth a visit.

Great parking and a lively and lovely tea room right next door. There was scaffolding up Sept 2020, spoiling photographs and you couldn’t enter the ruins. There is a toilet block in the car park and a couple of pubs in the village.

A nice little ruined Abbey built from beautiful red sandstone. Not a huge amount to see but well worth a visit if you are in the area and like historical buildings. It was closed when we arrived so all my pictures are from the outside. Our visit was pre-covid.
