Lowdown is my favourite coffee shop. The staff truly care about making the best coffee possible and the service is consistently great. Lowdown is a must try if you enjoy speciality coffees, or just want to enjoy a pastry in a modern cafe. I am a regular, and have tried most of the menu. I highly recommend the banana bread, carrot cake, and the vegetarian chili! Plus, if you are looking to buy bags of rare/specialty beans, they always have a good selection from quality roasters.

Love love love the carrot cake, but the rhubarb one is not bad either! I like the filter coffee, the espresso is too acidic for my taste.. Fast service, great staff! I've been here 4 times already and it's always my place of choice for a quick coffee when I'm in the centre for shopping!
I think this is one of the best coffee shops in the UK. Guest roasters on rotation, great knowledge and recommendations from the team and every coffee is made with serious care and precision. I have only sat in once or twice but I love going there for a takeaway espresso or pourover (they use Kalita Wave) and always buy my beans from there when I’m looking for new and interesting coffees. Can’t speak highly enough of this place!
Lowdown Coffee is by far my favourite coffee shop in all of Scotland. I was there yesterday (15/09) for the first time in months due to the present situation and I had a fantastic filter coffee and cinnamon bun. Later returning for beans and a second coffee that was similarly excellent. The staff here are always really lovely and I just love the place. They really care about the coffee they serve and that comes across very clearly in the quality of coffee they offer. The food is also really good, going off past experience, as I didn't have anything more than a cake yesterday.
I’m a specialty/third-wave coffee enthusiast and so great coffee is difficult to find for me. This place served me exceptional coffee that meets my high standards. I was very satisfied with the taste, temperature and milk texture and the baristas and staff care for their customers’ happiness. The cake was very tasty and I enjoyed it immensely with the coffee. Lowdown serves rotations of coffees from UK and European/international roasters so you never get bored of the coffee. Definitely visiting again tomorrow.
