Completely horrifying experience, I am absolutely speechless. Just few days ago, my mother 58yo had an hypertensive crisis with severe chest pain, so I decided that it was the case to take her to the Emergency Department. When we got there, we had to queue in order to get a registration before being seen. Once they saw my mom, they observed a blood pressure of about 199 / 115 with a high heart rate which is no doubt a life-threatening situation and the blood pressure should quickly be lowered in order to avoid stroke, heart attack and organs damage and what did they do? It took them a few hours (about 2 to 3, I can't remember) to do what? To give her a medication (Ramipril) which didn't have any effect. They measured my mother's blood pressure a few times and the values before and after the pill were absolutely similars. In the end, after measuring 3 times the blood pressure after the pill and observing as last value 181 / 108 the doctor came and said that she should have gone home, take a rest and go to see the GP soon. Really? Is this an emergence treatment that a person who is risking her own life gets from an \advanced country\ like the UK? I'm wondering if this is the way the so called healthcare in UK works or if my mother was treated like that just for racism because we are italians. I am totally distraught, in 2019 an \Emergency Department\ like this is in my opinion completely unacceptable. Before of that, I had heard that UK healthcare and doctors are in general quite bad and only give out Paracetamol and Ibuprofen for everything but what I saw that night was absolutely beyond any worst expectations. Shame on who boasts him or herself with the title of \Doctor\ while providing a treatment like that
