I have had dogs and cats all my many days. In all my travels I have never had the good fortune to have had veterinary care of the standard we receive at Glenythan Vets. I have two large dogs with complex skin problems. Alastair has been amazing. Being open to homeopathic and alternative remedies , he has worked wonders for my dogs. His knowledge and patience is outstanding. He has spent a huge amount of time researching my dogs' conditions and possible remedies, often making long telephone calls to me to discuss and explain alternative treatments. He also treated a huge lump which suddenly appeared on one of my dog's paws and successfully operated to remove the lump from a very difficult area of his pad. It is a huge comfort to have a vet in whom I have complete trust- who has such a wonderful empathy with his patients - and who explains and discusses every move with me.

Never had a bad experience here, thankfully! Our puppy actually drags us in! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, never a problem getting an appointment.

We,ve had dogs ( mainly rescue ) for many years , and there's no way I would go past , or recommend Glenythan, more highly - Except if we could award more stars - Then we'd give Alistair at least 100 !! Our rescue dogs have all been a bit older, so they usually approach a trip to the vet with a bit of trepidation - especially first trips - Instead of hauling them straight on the table on arrival, Alistair firstly, gets on first name terms with the dog, , ushering him/her into the surgery and then sitting down and having a wee chat , and everybody, dog included, is relaxed. He discusses problems/ symptoms , and solutions, in detail - No hurry . Also, his support at the end, is second to none. When it was time recently, to say goodbye to Lui, our 17 year old lurcher, our three other dogs and ourselves were all beside him as he drifted off peacefully, It seemed , as a pack, they've got a sixth sense , and being together at the end, they could all ( including us ) understand and accept what was happening . Carry on the good work, Glenythan - including the nice ladies at reception- And sorry Alistair, but you're not allowed to consider retirement any time soon !!!

Last year I reviewed this vets negatively when I was unhappy with the cost of getting my cat's teeth cleaned. This year I am glad to report the exceptional support we have had whilst fostering an abandoned pet cat. We couldn't have been given better advice. Thank you, Marie.
