Having grown up in Scotland going frequently to ceilidhs with my friends, I was eager to continue doing so when I moved South almost 15 years ago. I was very fortunate to stumble across License to Ceilidh back then when I first tried out the ceilidhs at Cecil Sharp House. From that point on however, my friends and I specifically check to make sure it is them playing before we book our tickets. They are the best ceilidh band I have seen. That is why when I got married in November, there was no question on who to book as the band. In my opinion, a wedding is not complete without a good ceilidh, and with LTC it’s not just good, it’s great! Everyone loved it, and my wife and I danced all but one dance. The dance floor was never empty with dances ready for all abilities and ages. Between the dances, the band kept the excitement and energy high playing and riffing to classic tracks that kept your feet tapping whether you meant to do it or not. After the ceilidh was finished they stayed and did our disco for us to make sure the cheesy classics still got the customary wedding air time. We had so many compliments on the night about the band and still get them when we see our friends. If we could do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing!

I saw Licence to Ceilidh at a wedding that I attended earlier this year. I’d never participated in a Ceilidh before so I thought I’d give it a go! It was so much fun, the band were great and the music was brilliant. Everybody was up and dancing and it was clear to see that everyone was having a great time. Even my dad was up and dancing and I thought that would be a day I’d never see! They played two sets and the dance instructions were super easy to follow and the caller answered any questions we had clearly. This made me enjoy the night more because I was new to this! Everything from the volume of the band to the presentation and music was very professional. Afterwards I approached the band and asked for a card. They were super friendly and I had no idea that they can also provide a live party set and can do the disco too! I was amazed. I’ll definitely be booking them for my birthday party! If you’re on the hunt for a Ceilidh band for an event I’m telling you now, this band is the one for you!

Witnessed these guys at a friends wedding and could not recommend them highly enough. Seriously talented and amazing musicians here. Proper knees-up atmosphere, would definitely hire for another party or recommend to anyone looking for a proper party band for their wedding. LOVE.

Fantastic evening had by all guests, of all ages. Having a ceilidh instead of just a DJ enabled everyone to get involved and those who didn't wish to dance had great fun watching the rest of us try! The caller made sure everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing (I'm sure the moves we were performing weren't quite up to scratch!) but the band and caller kept us in line. Licence to Ceilidh were professional, friendly and helpful from the first enquiry up to the event itself. Highly recommend them.

Licence to Ceilidh recently ran a Ceilidh for my 40th birthday. They were fantastic to communicate with in the run-up to the event and on the night. The set-up was really smooth and our caller ran through each of the dances before we started, so we could pick up the basics. This was great as we were all beginners. My guests thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening (which was a seriously good workout, as well as heaps of fun!!) and made sure it was a truly memorable occasion. Tip: Make sure you hire kilts, as it makes the Ceilidh way more fun on the night!
