I purchased a property in the heart of Edinburgh and without any doubt, Brian @ Fortress One is significant part of the reason I managed too. I asked Brian to conduct a damp survey report on the property as there was concerns re damp on the home report. Initially, I thought Brian's report was expensive compared to another damp company, but it was the best money I spent during the whole buying process! It was Brian's extremely methodical and evidence-based report that left the sellers shocked about the extent of the damp issue and his indisputable findings gave me the best buying power to leverage a reduced price on the property. His report saved me ! Once I got the keys, I immediately had Brian into the property to conduct the recommendations he outlaid in his survey. With myself residing in the Highlands, I cant begin to tell you how great Brian was at touching base with me on the progress. Lots of pictures and reassurance (nothing worse that a contractor/workman who stresses you out and doesn't propose resolutions!). More than this, Brian went above and beyond. He did little extras that were just wonderful (wall paneling instead of plasterboard) and I felt I could trust him implicitly to make the right calls without having to consult me all the time . Brian is undoubtedly the best in his field, a specialist with sheer work ethic like no other. I believe you should invest your time and money into Fortress One should you need damp inspections and/or work carried out. You will not be left disappointed by the high level of customer service and the quality of the work provided. I am now very happy in my damp proof home with a lovely summary report to conclude the full cycle! Thanks Brian!

I'd phoned Brian after many failed attempts at resolving a penetrating damp issue in my flat. I'd just had a \survey\ carried out by another company a few days before & was quoted at least 4000 for the remedial works, all without the contractor actually checking anything. I decided to get a second (well, first) opinion after a number of red flags with the company & thankfully I did. Brian wasn't interested in basing anything on previous information & started from scratch with temperature & humidity readings in every room, before using thermal imaging & other specialist equipment to build his report. He carried out a small bit of exposure work on the effected plasterboard & went into the loft to tie everything together. His initial hunch was right & he found that the issues were being caused by a botched roofing job which could be easily rectified by a competent contractor. I received a very comprehensive report, containing pictures & references, method statements & other useful information to help me fix not only what I'd called him for, but other humidity & condensation problems which I didn't even know I was experiencing. I've started to put these into practice & I'm already feeling the benefits of the improved air quality around my flat. I was then able to approach a roofing contractor with confidence in what needed to be done & what I should expect. Brian was a pleasure to deal with & I'll be sure to give him a call if I have any issues in future properties. A weight of my shoulders & an end to a very long saga. Cheers Brian.

Fortress One are our number One. We spent months being given different reasons by many different firms for some damp in our basement. We then contacted Brian who conducted a full investigation and survey. He sent a detailed illustrated report to explain his plan. He visited again to answer our questions. He is extremely knowledgeable and has tonnes of experience. The house was kept very clean and safe during the work being done. We received regular updates and photos. Emails and texts were responded to very quickly. Nothing was too much trouble for him and. If you have any issues with your property I would strongly encourage you to speak to Brian first.
We had been experiencing a damp and a woodworm issue in our house. Gave Brian a call and he came round to have a look, even though I know he was very busy.
