What a find. Lovely staff who will tell you all about the history of Gainsborough. Nicely laid out. Archive was busy this time so I'll definitely be going back.

Great local archive, lots of interesting stuff on local firms. Limited space used well to highlight really interesting pieces and always a good brew with excellent home made cakes. You don't have to be a member or pay to go into the tea room part.

Limited free 1 hour street parking. Public parking nearby. Free to visit, contribution welcomed. Small museum covering Gainsborough life, interesting visit.

Very interesting place with a huge amount of local history and excellent displays and mock-up street of old. Manned by volunteers who will go out of their way to provide as much as they can to your questions.

A small, well presented museum, gives you an idea of how Gainsborough just missed being a major industrial centre (although it would probably have faded anyway) Staff friendly and informative, at one time all corn was threshed by the power of a Field Marshall tractor, most winter ploughing done by a Track Marshall crawler. And confectionery wrapped in a Roses machine,or a Liner's drinking water made in a still made here. Or a bomber's gun turret made here, and how might the air war have gone if all had used the more powerful 0.5" cannon? There's too much else to list, come and see for yourself, and leave with a totally different respect for the heritage of Gainsborough. Thank you,a great effort, pleased we came.
