I waited alone for the lights to change on the dusty cycle path on my way home. Traffic was light and the vehicles were often driven by heavily-bearded men of South-Asian origin in traditional caps. The uninspiring stores nearby were all closed – it was quite late in the day. A sip of cool water hydrated my gut. Out of the corner of my eye, a bright blue sticker on the sign-post next to me rallied cyclist couriers to unionise. After what seemed like minutes, the light finally changed to green and I cranked the pedal with my weight on left foot. There was still a while to go...
